Rezpiral, Single Run Destilado de Agave, Doña Berta

At Bar Agricole, We believe we are in a golden age of agave spirits and they may not always be this good.  We’re huge fans of Rezpiral and their guardianship of the human and agricultural resources of Oaxaca.  We love their irreverent decision to forgo the Mezcal classification and call these spirits simply distillates of agave, taking the authority out of the hands of the government and entrusting it to the producer.  We passed an afternoon with Doña Berta and her family at her home in Chichicapa tasting a wide variety of agaves.  This Tepeztate was a rare unanimous favorite.  We are happy to report that we were able to secure the entire batch of this radiant spirit.
